A-LEVEL MATHS REVISION

Organise A-Level Maths revision around the chapters that cost the most marks.

Use a diagnostic revision cycle for Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics: identify the weak chapter, rebuild the method, practise it independently, then test it again in mixed exam-style questions.

Pure Mathematics

Typical revision areas include algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration and numerical methods. Secure algebra is the foundation for all of them.

Statistics

Revision should combine calculations with interpretation: probability, distributions, sampling, hypothesis testing and data analysis only become reliable when students can explain what the numbers mean in context.

Mechanics

Mechanics errors often begin before the algebra. Draw the situation, define the positive direction, label forces and units, then choose the equation. This reduces sign errors and makes modelling assumptions explicit.

From chapter practice to full papers

Chapter work builds technique; mixed papers test recognition and stamina. Move to full-paper practice only when recurring topic errors have been addressed, then use the paper to identify the next revision cycle.
